Meet Baken'Shake

My name is Tess and I am a DC native in my early 20’s.  After high school, I decided to export myself to the South where I currently attend college as a geology and environmental policy double major.  Given this information, it may surprise you to know that my passion lies with baking and experimenting in the kitchen!  I love food and everything that comes with it: the research, the shopping, the preparation, the cooking, and the eating! I guess not so much with the clean up…

As much as I love to bake n’ shake, someone’s gotta bring home the dough (insert obligatory laugh here..I should also mention that I tell the worst jokes).  Fortunately, I have found a summer job that allows me to do both!  This summer I have been given the opportunity to work in a bakery in NYC and I could not be more thrilled.  I will begin this chapter of my life in mid-June and cannot wait to chronicle it here!

When I am not in the library or kitchen I am probably catching up on sleep!  But actually, I love to play with my dog, be with my family and friends, read, run, (window) shop, and hang around with the boyfriend.  I love to laugh and be silly and I am content doing anything that keeps me movin’!

Do not worry, I will not discuss anything related to geology or geochemistry here : )  This blog is dedicated to cooking, baking and life (mostly) in the kitchen.  I will document my adventures, from cupcakes to brioche, and back!
